Ed
Roscetti was born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY
where he started studying drums at the age of five. He continued
his education through high school, playing live gigs and
studying with accomplished jazz drummer Louis Marino.
Ed advanced his musical education at the renowned Berkeley
School of Music in Boston in 1978 after which he moved
to Los Angeles to continue his working career. While studying
with famed percussionist/drummer Joe Porcaro, Ed worked
with the distinguished Quincy Jones, Jeff Porcaro, James
Ingram, Joe Sample, Robben Ford, and the Crusaders, among
others. He then recorded his first of several albums, this
one with the Firesign Theater and Jeff Baxter (Doobie Brothers).
He soon became a regular session player in Los Angeles.
In 1980, Ed was asked to join the staff at the Percussion
Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA to teach specialized
workshops in both live drumming and electronic drum programming
and performance, where he continues to teach and write curriculum
today.
By 1984, after extensive study in composition with prominent
composer Lyle Murphy, Ed had expanded from simply playing
on jingles, television, film scores and records to writing
for them as well. As his demand and workload increased,
Ed built his own studio and, with his partner, started the
production company Pulse productions where they wrote and
produced music for television shows including Santa Barbara,
General Hospital and L.A. Law. Their production and/or writing
clients also included notable songwriters and artists such
as Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, Joe Sample and the Crusaders
among many others.
In 1987 Ed expanded to his own company, BPM Productions,
where he continues to act as composer, producer, songwriter,
arranger and musician. His many television credits include
Sunset Beach, General Hospital, Saturday Night Live, The
60s (Movie of the Week), L.A. Law, The Secret (Movie
of the Week), Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Runaway
with the Rich and Famous, Eye on Travel, Mike Hammer w/
Herbie Hancock, Eight Is Enough, Knots Landing, Family Ties,
Square Pegs, Knight Rider, and Inside Sports.
Record credits include Catfood (Top 2 NAC), Bryan Savage
(Top 2 NAC) Landscapes of Christmas, Ed Roscetti: Fighting
Clowns, Firesign Theater Live @ the Roxy (Rhino Records),

"The
rhythmic possibilities of odd meters have always interested
me. Most of us in Western Civilization are brought up
listening to music in 4/4 time. Playing and studying odd
meters opens up the mind to different rhythmic groupings
that can enhance your 4/4 playing, as well as make you
comfortable in any situation utilizing odd meters. This
is very important for TV, film, and jingle work and can
become indispensable if you're working with an artist
who writes in odd times."
