Ed Roscetti Drum Clinic - The Rhythmic Guide, July 19th, 2005

BDO would like to thank Edi Roscetti on a great Clinic!

July 19th at 6:30. Admission is $5.00

Two unique concepts from Ed Roscetti's book "Drummer's Guide to Odd Meters " (Hal Leonard) will be presented. First is The Rhythmic Guide, a breakdown of rhythms that can be applied to any given subdivision in any meter. Second, The Five Steps to Musicality, addresses Technique, Time, Time Feel, Phrasing, and Song Form. A variety of rhythms will be run down the Five Steps and demonstrated in a variety of styles on drum set and hand drums followed by hands-on attendee participation. All levels of attendees will be able to participate in this process and increase their rhythmic awareness and vocabulary. Curriculum will be provided to each attendee.

CLINIC OUTLINE
Development of technique, time, time feel, phrasing and song form in odd time signatures and common time utilizing the Rhythmic Guide and Five Steps to Musicality concepts. Subdivided rhythms, grooves, fill ideas, ensemble figures and solo ideas will be introduced and applied to different styles of drumming.

OBJECTIVES
The first concept, The Rhythmic Guide, is a breakdown of rhythms that can be applied to any given rhythmic subdivision in any meter. These rhythmic drills will increase the students' rhythmic awareness and vocabulary.

The second concept, The Five Steps to Musicality, addresses Technique, Time, Time Feel, Phrasing and Song Form. When this five-step process is completed, the student gains a new way to bring rhythmic ideas into his/her playing.

MATERIALS PROVIDED
Rhythmic Guide and Five Steps to Musicality Handout, excerpt from "Drummer's Guide to Odd Meters," by Ed Roscetti (2001), Hal Leonard.
